During the final phase of the World Endurance Championship in the Kingdom of Bahrain the Russian company BR Engineering presented a long-awaited racing car — its new sports prototype BR1. The LMP1-class car was created in cooperation with the Italian car-maker Dallara to take part in the new season of the World Championship. The engineering team included Russian technical specialists as well as the drivers of the SMP Racing program.

Boris Rotenberg, the head of the company, told us what awaits the car in the new season: "We have a lot of work ahead because we only tested it on a simulator. All our drivers were there from Viktor Shaitar and Kirill Ladygin. However, the main work is currently being done by Petrov and Aleshin. The Russian drivers are the patriots of their country. We never do anything by halves, we are here to win. They are going to make the Russian drivers, the Russian flag, the Russian hymn, and the Russian car always the first."

The BR1 prototype has already passed all the necessary tests, FIA homologation, as well as some tests on the race track. The car has the new season of the World Endurance Championship 2018-2019 ahead of it, in which two Russian top-notch LMP1 crews are going to participate. They are going to compete for the highest results in the total ranking.

One of the main innovations in the season 2018-2019 of the World Endurance Championship will be the new LMP 1 class that includes both hybrid and non-hybrid cars with limited power output. This will allow private crews, including the Russian SMP Racing crew to compete for the title of the FIA and WEC champion.
