China held a memorial service for victims of the Nanking Massacre the bloodiest page in the history of the second Sino-Japanese war. According to Chinese historians, 80 years ago nearly 300,000 Chinese were killed by the Japanese soldiers in just six weeks.

 

Japan questions the number of victims. The country's leadership, including Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived at the mourning ceremony in Nanjing. China officially declared December 13 the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims.
