Former "Hero of Ukraine" and Ukrainian Rada Representative Faces Jail Time for Speaking Out Truth

Nadezhda Savchenko, a Verkhovna Rada representative, might go to jail again but this time, in her homeland. Today, the Attorney General of Ukraine, Yuriy Lutsenko, introduced the idea of depriving Savchenko of parliamentary immunity from detention and arrest. This reaction was triggered immediately after Savchenko's candid statements.

Dmitry Melnikov investigates the situation and what the repercussions will be for her.

The "Hero of Ukraine" is no longer a hero. The symbol and banner of the new government now threatens the regime.

Nadezhda Savchenko came to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to testify — she is accused of preparing a coup d'état. But right on the steps of the building where she was summoned for interrogation, she went on the offensive, and for the first time publicly stated that in 2014 the Maidan was organized by the West and that the current leadership of the country is guilty of having people shot in the center of Kiev.

Nadezhda Savchenko: "Neither the Orange Revolution nor the Euro-Maidan was prompted by Russia, they occurred with help from the West".

"Despite the fact that people have been waiting for 5 years already, the shootings in Maidan will never be investigated. I saw a blue microbus arrive and people with weapons get out, these people are now in the Parliament. I saw how Parubiy led snipers into the Ukraina Hotel. Lutsenko became the Attorney General to hide these crimes".

Later, however, Savchenko said that she confused the Head of the Verkhovna Rada, Parubiy, with the Head of the National Security Committee, Sergei Pashinsky. Savchenko's statement that the Maidan shooting in February 2014 was planned by the coup organizers confirms the recent revelations made by a group of Georgian snipers. They also called Pashinsky one of the main coordinators of the provocations. It was Pashinsky who distributed weapons to snipers and called out the targets.

Accusations said by Savchenko, a faithful Maidan fighter herself, are forcing the Kiev authorities to find a way of silencing her as soon as possible. And while the representative was at the interrogation, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General spoke of a sabotage scenario from his Rada podium. He claimed that the attempt had been organized by a group led by Savchenko. And if the conspiracy had been realized, the Rada would have been turned into a bloodbath, if Yuri Lutsenko is to be believed.

Yuri Lutsenko, Prosecutor General: "The investigation has irrefutable evidence that Savchenko personally planned, personally recruited, and personally instructed how to conduct a terrorist attack inside the Parliament by destroying two government and official buildings with grenades. The plan was to bring down the Rada's dome with mortars and then shoot those who survived".

After these words, Rada unanimously excluded Savchenko from the Security and Defense Committee and is planning to deprive her of both parliamentary immunity and the "Hero of Ukraine" title next week.

Apart from Savchenko, the second person involved in the military coup case in Ukraine is Vladimir Ruban, who is now under arrest. He was detained a week ago when trying to bring in a whole arsenal of weapons from the independent eastern regions of Ukraine. In the opinion of the investigation, the weapons were intended to sabotage the Rada.
