Everyone's attention has been focused on the Inauguration of the Russian leader. It's clear why the Russians are interested — it's a major political event in our country. However, foreigners have displayed interest as well. And here's why. Here are some curious international figures. These figures look more than appropriate on the eve of the inauguration. According to the opinion polls among foreigners, including Europeans Vladimir Putin is currently the main political leader in the world.

The demonstrative poll was conducted by the French Research Center IFOP. It was commissioned by Sputnik in late March. People over 18 from five countries — Germany, France, Italy, Britain, and the USA — took part in the poll. They were asked a single question: "Who's currently the strongest political figure in the world?" The participants gave different answers, but Putin was mentioned the most.

Now, we'll study the findings of the research in detail.

Putin happened to be the strongest political figure according to the Germans. 34% of the Germans consider him to be the most powerful leader.

France showed the same result — 34%.

Putin was even more popular among the Italians. 38% voted for him.

Curiously enough, in these countries, Putin was favored more by women.

The second place in the European top-chart is occupied by US President Donald Trump. He received 25% in France, 27% in Germany, and 29% in Italy. Luckily enough, Trump managed to outrun Putin in his own country. In the USA, he got 43%, while Putin received 23%. When it comes to Britain, 33% support Trump. But 26% of the Royal subjects consider the Russian leader to be the strongest despite the diplomatic complications in the recent months.

Complicated indeed. Which other world leaders were mentioned in the poll?

The third place was occupied by the leader of China, Xi Jinping 17% of the French 19% of the Germans, 13% of the Italians 9% of the British, and even 4% of the US citizens consider him to be the top politician.

The strength and will of the European leaders don't seem to inspire confidence.

Theresa May managed to get only 1% in Italy and Germany and 7% in Britain.

The President of the Fifth Republic got only 5% in France. Other countries didn't favor Emmanuel Macron at all.

The German Chancellor managed to get the best worst figures: 13% of the Italians, 9% of the British and 9% of the Germans consider Angela Merkel to be the strongest world leader.
