The media is calling it a stealth ship because, as the military put it, it enjoys a reduced radar and infrared signature. Nevertheless, the Oldenburg was detected while passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. The media reports that the frigate is headed eastward to join three US guided missile destroyer the Carney, the Ross, and the Winston Churchill. They are equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

 

Moreover, at least three US Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarines are on duty in the area. On top of that, the British submarine Talent entered the Mediterranean on September 8th.
