Poroshenko Wants to "Flood" the Donbass; Litter the Entire Region With Explosives and Landmines

"The Special Monitoring Mission saw for the first time two dark green square wooden boxes with wires connected to them attached to the metal gates of a sluice on the northern side of the Myronivsky reservoir and close to a checkpoint of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the town of Roty, that's government-controlled and is 41 miles north-east of Donetsk. An unarmed soldier told the mission about the presence of explosives on the sluice".

- These are outrageous facts. Let's get to Lugansk. We're having Andrey Marochko, an official representative of the Lugansk Militia, online. Andrey, tell us how dangerous the explosives are, how was it discovered, and what do they want to achieve.

- Thank you, and hello to your studio. As you said, the explosives were found by the OSCE Monitoring Mission representatives. They indicated the fact in their report. It should be noted as a fact the Ukrainian servicemen never refused it was them who set up the explosives. The sluices in the Myronivsky reservoir are designed for water discharge. If they are blown up, the water level in the river of Lugan will rise manifold. It means the downstream settlements will be flooded. They are Kalinovo, Irmino, and Pervomaisk, and it also might affect Lugansk as well. Considering the low temperature, it will cause enormous civilian casualties, as well as an ecological and humanitarian disaster throughout nearly the entire Republic. We don't when it was going to happen. But I'd like to thank the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission for the information timely provided which, quite possibly, prevented an act of terror by Ukraine. The fact of mine-laying yet again proves the Ukrainian Armed Forces neglect the rules of international humanitarian law and use prohibited means and methods of waging war. We also hope the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission will monitor mine clearing of the sluices in the nearest future since the reservoir is located in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

- Explain to us, please, you were quite calm saying the Ukrainian Army didn't refuse it was them who set up the explosives. The question is what was the reaction of the OSCE? This is a grave violation of the Minsk Protocol and proof in general that they are trying to destroy Lugansk.

- It should be noted the OSCE representatives indicated the fact in their report. And we are grateful for that. I think the mission will take the issue under control. We hope they will de-mine the sluices and they will monitor the situation.

- Thank you very much. We had Andrey Marochko, an official representative of Lugansk Militia, online.

- Vladimir, how come they get away with it? It's obvious — the OSCE, the international observers. But they tried to lay mines at the dam so the LPR would be flooded anyway.

Vladimir Skachko, Ukrainian journalist: There's a deep suspicion the Ukrainian Armed Forces didn't comment on this because they didn't know about it as well. This mine laying is an attempt to escalate the conflict, it's a backup plan of the Ukrainian authorities and personally President Poroshenko in case if he loses the presidential election.

- Wait a minute, it wasn't President Poroshenko who laid mines there. Who are the people if even the Ukrainian Army doesn't know about them.

- I think President Poroshenko has people especially for such purposes who run about with such boxes, I mean maybe even not with such cruel goals as at the Myronivsky reservoir.

- What benefit can he make out of it?

- I say it again — he loses in the election, the country needs martial law and…

- You mean — "I don't have it, no one will"? Is it like this?

- Exactly. The point is the Ukrainian authorities now follow the policy — "if you aren't with us then go to hell".

- It's quite literally.

- Yes, "after us the deluge" is the literal meaning here.

- I'm sure they will find such mines at other facilities as well. I'll say it again — war and guns are the last resort of this king who's gone bankrupt and made the country bankrupt. Unfortunately, this is true. The mission responded timely, thank God. Before that, Ukrainians could do that unnoticed.
