Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu, said that according to the scenario, the main task today is to practice actions in the case of an escalation of a military threat and occurrence of crisis situations.
Sergey Shoigu, Defense Minister: "According to the idea of the unexpected tests, everyone is placed on high alert from 6 a.m. They're the military administration of the Central Military District, a part of the armed forces of the Southern and the Eastern Military Districts, certain formations of the Airborne forces, long-range military transport aviation. Some formations in the Central chain of command will also be tested. The main efforts during the test will be focused on assessing the readiness of these forces to properly plan and use the subordinate troops in the case of an escalation of a military threat and an occurrence of a crisis situation, assessing the ability to form independent groups of forces which are ready to securely solve the given tasks".
