"Hello, Igor Mikhaylovich".

People asked their questions. It's time for governors to answer. After hosting Direct Line, the president inspects the work of regional leaders by and large…

Vladimir Putin: "Let's get to the main indicators".

Igor Rudenya, governor of Tver Oblast: “We managed to ensure steady growth in the main industrial production enterprises.”

...and in detail. The indicators of industrial production are important for statistics, but what matters to this enterprise's employees (whom Putin visited, by the way) are jobs and wages.

Igor Rudenya: Several enterprises, including the plant you visited, asked to thank you for the contracts.

- Are they busy?

- They are. As far as the medium-term outlook goes, they have a lot of work ahead of them. They have full confidence in the next 8-11 years. I also want to say that, on your instructions, back pay has been covered in full at the Torzhok Carriage Works.

On Direct Line, a certified teacher spoke about Tver. He complained about his salary of $240. The regional ministry said the teacher, apparently, doesn't work full-time. The average salary in education for the region is about $415. It's lower than the average for the country. However, education is accessible to children there. There's enough money for new schools and houses.

Vladimir Putin: What about the construction industry?

Igor Rudenya: This year, we have improved performance. Last year, there was a big project for the relocation of emergency housing. This year, we have similar indicators. Therefore, despite the fact that we are building three schools and six kindergartens this year, we're moving forward in the field of civil construction.

Over 5 years, 7 schools and 13 kindergartens are promised to be built in the region. Also, the current buildings will be renovated. More than 8,000 children won't have to go to school during the second shift. But all of this requires money. In addition to factories, the region can earn in agriculture. For example, the agricultural enterprise where the president had some pastries in 2016 now also produces milk.

Tourism is another source of income.

Vladimir Putin: Igor Mikhaylovich, this year you're going to have an interesting tourist forum, right?

Igor Rudenya: Yes, it's the Rivers of Russia National Tourist Forum. This year, it's going to be special because there's a new program to support domestic tourism. As part of this program, a new integrated transportation hub will be built.

A land-based transport corridor from Moscow along with a river corridor will meet here. There will be a path from the Leningrad station to the Caspian Sea with just one short transfer. $6.3 million has been allocated for the development of the region; three times as much as last year.
