The president of Venezuela has stated that he caught conspirators plotting against him. Nicolas Maduro reported several days ago that the government managed to prevent a coup.
The opposition supported by the US, Colombia, and Chile, and wanted to overthrow the government. Maduro claims that plotters were planning to murder him and his wife, as well as dozens of people standing in their way, and raise General Raul Baduel to power. He's joined the opposition and is currently in prison. The Venezuelan authorities acquired an almost 60-hour recording of the plotters' conversations. They were discussing in detail their plan to murder the legitimate president.
The opposition leader placed there by Washington, Juan Guaido, who previously tried to topple Maduro, denies his participation in the conspiracy. However, Maduro is sure that Guaido was going to lead the coup.
Nicolas Maduro, President of Venezuela: "They're not just conspirators, they're barbarians and killers who're ready to seize power through bloodshed. I ask the opposition, is that the political path you've chosen? Is that the way you want to raise? Your leader, Guaido, whom I can't call anything other than a fascist, says there's the easy way and there's the hard way for me to go. What's the hard way then? Does that mean murdering the president?"
