Kaliningrad Opens Up E-Visa Program For First Tourists! 53 Countries Now Qualify!

The first eight foreigners have come to Kaliningrad under the e-visa. First, a citizen of Poland crossed the border at the Mamonovo-Gronovo checkpoint. Afterward, according to the Border Service of the FSB, a few more people came to the region from the Lithuanian direction.

Let me remind you that the simplified visa regime for foreigners was introduced in Kaliningrad Oblast starting the 1st of July. Residents of 53 countries are eligible for e-visas. The permission is valid for 30 days. It enables a tourist to stay in Kaliningrad Oblast for up to eight days. At the moment, over 2,000 people from 30 countries have filled the questionnaires for e-visas. Tourists from Germany, Estonia, and Lithuania are the most active. The similar regime was introduced earlier in the Far East.

Alla Ivanova, International Relations Agency: "The regime has been fully implemented. We're waiting for the guests. We, both you and I, welcome these guests. There's a good inflow of requests. If we compare it with the development of the similar process in the Far East, it's evident that we're doing it much faster. Considering the number of requests, we can see that a good inflow of tourists can be expected."
