In Syria, civilians began returning to Eastern Ghouta that was fully freed from the militants. Almost 50,000 people were able to go back to their homes that they had to leave because of the terrorists. Starting today, Russian Military Police will patrol Douma.

Our military correspondent Aleksandr Bilibov reports on the current events.

This is Douma, located in Eastern Ghouta. For the first time in 7 years, you can see Syrian government flags waving here. This is a historic event. The last of militant capture in a Damascus suburb will be under full control of the government forces any day. This means that starting now, the entire Eastern Ghouta will be free of terrorists.

Not all the militants have left town yet, but the civilians already know that peaceful life has returned. Look, they're greeting the Russian Military Police from Russia's MOD. They're celebrating today. The civilians are ecstatic, everyone is trying to personally shake our hands. You don't need a translator to see how happy they are.

We can't forget about the alleged chemical attack in Douma, supposedly conducted by the government forces. The OPCW has announced their preparedness to send a special mission there. However, locals assure them they haven't dealt with anything similar to poisonous substances.

A resident: "There was no chemical attack, the Syrian Army has freed us".

A resident: "I'm from Douma, and there were no chemical attacks. There have been shootings, but with conventional ammo".

It seems the whole city is outside. Even though the militants are close by, we sometimes see armed men in the crowd, people are tired of being afraid, they want the terrorists to leave their town.

Along with the Russian military, Syrian authorities have arrived in Douma to continue negotiating the further withdrawal of the terrorists' troops from this town.
