The winners of the contest "My First Business" were determined by the school students' Internet idols, with whom they speak the same Internet language. While representatives of top banks discussed the organization of the "I am a Professional" contest which will help future successful bankers. Andrei Grigoriev has the details.
One in two is holding a smartphone or a camera. Everything happening immediately goes online. The modern youth lives in a reality show mode. Klavdiya Vysokova, video blogger: "We see here most decent youngsters: extremely talented musicians, future programmers, real businesspeople. I think it'll advance the economy in our country".
There are 400,000 participants, even the organizers didn't expect such a number. The authors of the projects, which attracted the attention of the experts, win grants to implement their ideas.
Sergei Kirienko, Deputy Presidential Chief of Staff: "The victory depends not on the participant's parents or connections, but on their talent, industry, motivation, readiness, and aspiration to advance in life".
And here's the discussion of organizing college student competitions, not the traditional by subject, but most closely approximating real economic conditions.
Valeriya Kasamara, head of 'I am a Professional' project: "The task at the contest isn't made up, but elaborated by professors, VTB bank, SberBank, Alpha Bank. You realize that that's the real life you'll face after you graduate from your university or college".
It's primarily career guidance. A talented child already knows where they'll work even before graduating from their school or university.
Irina Pronina, Staff Training Chief at VTB: "After such internships about 50% of participants are hired by our bank for permanent positions".
All these contests for pupils, students, and professionals are part of "Russia, The Country of Opportunity" project. The government provides each of its citizens with a chance.
Sergei Kirienko: "The mission of the State is to give every person to find their vocation, their talent. Every person has a talent. It's a matter of having an opportunity to discover it as early as possible to fulfill themselves".
The selection system is crowned with the "Leaders of Russia" contest. It's a competition for managers aimed at bringing new blood into the civil service.
