An exhibition has opened in the Federation Council. Among the showpieces are unique photos, documents and drawings from the archives of Russia, Ukraine, France, and Switzerland. Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council, held an opening speech at the exhibition. She urged to prevent attempts at rewriting history. She shared a story how her mother saved a Jewish family during the wartime.

Valentina Matviyenko: "January 27th is the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This date reminds us of those who managed to stop the Nazi terror. And today it is highly important to stop any attempts to rewrite history, to defame or belittle the Red Army's efforts in its fight against the Nazis".
