Meanwhile, the State Duma delegation and the Federation Council met with Syria's President, Bashar Al-Assad. They talked about post-war rebuilding efforts of the republic and joint economic and social projects.

Evgeny Nippot reports on the details of the dialogue.

Over 400 billion dollars are required to restore Syria's economy, according to Bashar Al-Assad's statement to the State Duma deputies that came to the Arab Republic on an official visit. The President said that he'd do everything to attract Russian businesses to his country, and members of parliament are ready to help him with that.

Dmitry Sablin, an RF State Duma Deputy: "We must help by bringing Russian business here. During the meeting, President Assad once again stated how important it is to them that all the friends and allies that defended Syria received priority".

First of all, they talked about the oil and gas and engineering sectors. According to the deputies, a series of agreements between the two countries' regions will facilitate the development of economic and cultural connections.

Andrey Turchak, the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council: "The agreements between Sevastopol and Tartus, and between the Samara and Moscow Regions are currently on the table. A delegation from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area was also at the meeting. An agreement between the Homs Province and the District was signed at the meeting. It covered the industrial sector, and the Homs Governorate has significant manufacturing capacity, by the way, the mechanical engineering sector, humanitarian connections, and the education program".

Despite the tense international situation and the missile strikes during the Russian delegation's visit to Damascus, the deputies held over 30 meetings, not just with business leaders, but also with religious leaders.

Dmitry Sablin, State Duma Deputy: "We've met with the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church, with the supreme mufti, with the People's Assembly President, with the PM, and with the President. We spent three productive days with the Governor of the Homs Province. We visited industrial sites, conducted a series of successful humanitarian campaigns and visited houses".

According to the deputies, the Syrian economy is on its way to restoration. The joint projects between Russia and the Arab Republic will help speed up this process. Members of parliament are sure that even external aggression won't stand in the way, as Russian equipment helps deter it. By the way, Bashar Al-Assad gave a high appraisal of Russian weapons when talking to the deputies.
