Unlawful use of sanctions and abusing the US dollar as a reserve currency will only weaken it said the chief of Russian diplomacy at a joint press conference with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Turkey's foreign minister. According to Lavrov, many countries will steadily refuse settlements in USD.
Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister: "They are unlawful, they undermine all the principles of world trade. Concerning overcoming these illegal barriers and restrictions, indeed, the presidents of Russia and Turkey have striven for mutual domestic currency settlements in our relations with Iran for several years. Such a blatant abuse of using the US dollar as a reserve currency will eventually undermine its role, resulting in an increasing number of states, even those unaffected by US sanctions, abandoning the dollar, and count on more reliable and credible partners, just to be on the safe side".
