The US authorities are undermining the stability of the dollar. It's becoming a risky instrument for international trade due to the introduced restrictions. The first Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, spoke about this on the program "Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" on the television channel "Russia 1". The minister noted that Russia has curbed trade in dollars in response and will do the same in the future. He also talked about Russian investments in American assets.
Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of Russia: "We must build a policy based on the risk potential arising from the actions of our American colleagues. This is already happening. We have significantly reduced the investment of our reserves in US assets. We are arranging more and more payments in currencies other than the dollar. First and foremost, we are developing settlements in national currencies — in rubles, as well as in euro, the Chinese yuan, etc. Those currencies are safe because they don't pass through American banks".
Also, Anton Siluanov spoke about economic growth in Russia. According to him, we are ahead of schedule.
Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of Russia: "The Russian economy began to grow more quickly during the second quarter. Our GDP increased by 1.8 percent. The government is planning that growth throughout the current year will be about 1.8-2 percent. We are currently developing several national investment projects pertaining to healthcare, education, and social sphere — all of which will improve the quality of life for our citizens. And in spite of all of the sanctions, these projects will be carried out".
