Nikonov: US Attempts to Block Russian Gas Will Fail! Cheap Russian Gas Will Beat Out American Shale

An interview with Vyacheslav Nikonov, political analyst.

—Let's hear about the fact that you'll build an LNG facility anyway. Depending on Nord Stream.

“German authorities are going to build Germany's first terminal to receive liquefied natural gas. It'll be located in Brunsbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein. The local governments and Berlin are supporting the initiative. There's a set of strong political reasons in favor of the project, according to the newspaper. The first LNG terminal will be able to refute the White House main objections that Germany depends on Russian energy resources and does not allow American gas to enter its market. LNG has good prospects, experts say. In addition, if Russia starts to raise prices, the demand for it will only grow. Now Russian gas is forced to exist in a highly competitive environment, which strengthens the position of the EU as an importer of natural gas.”

—Vyacheslav Alexeevich, this is about political strength. On the one hand we're really glad the construction of Nord Stream has begun, on the other hand the USA forced through what they wanted. Europe agreed, and they're going to build it.

Vyacheslav Nikonov, political analyst:

—If we take this particular case — the construction of the LNG terminal in Germany — I think we should praise it, simply because liquefied gas from Sabetta will be supplied to Germany as a much more competitive product than American gas. Therefore, I do not rule out these terminals will receive Russian gas.

—Americans are building it for themselves. And we're going to use it, right?

—The fittings are different there. They don't fit us.

—The situation is as follows

—We're talking about the effect, the impact. They wanted it and they did it.

—They say they can do everything and Russia can't do anything; this is all empty rhetoric. We underestimate ourselves and we are underestimated. Both in Ukraine and the West. We're the fifth or sixth largest economy, not a tiny one but big one.

—By PPP.

—Out of 200!

—The eleventh.

—Only the estimation of the economy by purchasing power parity matters. Any other estimation doesn't make sense. The talk that Russia didn't contribute to the development of civilization is just nonsense. You see... In simple terms — chemistry — Mendeleev, radio — Popov, TV — Zvorykin, aviation — Sikorsky.

—He's Ukrainian.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky, LDPR:

—Who's Ukrainian? He's from St. Petersburg.

—The atom — Kurchatov. Space — Korolev. Information technologies — Zhores Alferov. Laser technologies — Basov, Prokhorov. Great literature — Tolstoy, Dostoevsky. Theater — Stanislavsky. Drama — Chekhov.

—Music?

—What's else is left? The Chinese make their iPhones.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky, LDPR:

—Our schoolchildren won all of the Olympiads.

—Speaking about our neighbors — Abkhazia, Ossetia. Just ask anyone in Abkhazia, Ossetia, in Transnistria, in Crimea, in Donbass what they think about Russia and its actions. The problem of the West and Ukraine is that they don't care about the opinion of their own people and people who live in their territories.
