The controversial video, as the Ukrainian media call it, is the top story on every channel. Here's some footage of the Defender of Ukraine Day concert in Konotop. The show featured a music video in the background.

It was Polina Gagarina's cover version of A Star Called the Sun by Kino. The video is titled Defenders of Donbass. It was uploaded in 2015 and has 2.5 million views. It displays both Zakharchenko and DPR symbols. The audience, members of the ATO, sprung from their seats.

Bogdan Voitsekhovsky, ATO: "First, we were taken aback. We wanted to know how it could have happened that a video like that was shown at a Ukrainian concert. We were angry and outraged".

Alexander Medinsky, Journalist: "It's natural that some citizens of Konotop might disagree with the policies of Petro Poroshenko and their small band of fake patriots, internationalists, and Neo-Nazis. They simply decided to give them a little surprise".

The guests left in anger. The city council summoned an emergency meeting to get a grasp on what happened. The hosts claimed that all their rehearsals went fine but right before the event, the equipment started acting up and the editors didn't check the video.

Sergey Zaraley, Community Center: "We had a video about ATO soldiers. But for some reason, our equipment began acting up today at about 12 PM, and the concert was starting at 4 PM, so I quickly downloaded another video".

So, they didn't even check it. A lot of ironic comments have been posted online.

"They can't do anything right".

"For once we saw a nice video instead of another group of amateurs dancing in Cossack outfits".

"What does it have to do with interethnic hostility?"

That's the criminal case under which the legal proceedings were initiated. The police, SBU, and prosecutor's office are trying to identify the organizer of the incident, according to the Konotop police.

Alexander Medinsky: "There's a paradox, a cognitive dissonance: the SBU considers some Ukrainians to be of a different ethnicity. I believe that by initiating that criminal case, the SBU is promoting interethnic hostility".

The organizer of the concert and the head of the community center will be fired, according to an announcement made by city hall. The SBU is serious, someone might even go to jail. Well, at least they haven't blamed Russian hackers yet.
