It all began with the fact that the mass media published a video featuring former Vice-Chancellor Strache being offered, as it was stated, by a niece of a Russian oligarch to buy an authoritative Austrian newspaper to promote his interests in the parliamentary elections. He promised her state procurement contracts in exchange.
The fact that it was a setup became clear at once. Today, the local newspaper Kronen Zeitung disclosed the details. According to it, a Bosnian student, who speaks fluent Russian, played the role of a Russian girl. Actually, she was selected for it at casting on the basis of Strache's taste and preferences. The villa in Ibiza where that conversation took place was chosen in advance, too. According to the mass media, the authors of the video initially offered it to politicians and businessmen in Austria, but they refused. As a result, they sold it to some German firm for 600,000, which gave it to Der Spiegel and Zeitung.
Let me note that Vienna's public prosecutor's office is now searching for the authors of the video.
