Today, they discussed the means and solutions, which lead to domination over the world in a Moscow school where there are no teachers and homework is checked by computers. It's about the development of AI — the technology that will completely change the life all over the planet in the next few decades. They showed Vladimir Putin Russian developments in this area. They seemed to be a fiction just a few years ago.

Alexey Petrov has the details.

The intelligence is artificial, but the sincerity of the avatar's greeting is genuine.

"Dear guests, my name is Elena. I'm a virtual TV-presenter".

These are unique technologies created by Russian specialists. This neuro-helmet helps patients who suffered a stroke to recover. Here's another system which can recognize voice. It'll save doctors time.

"They'll be able to dictate protocols by voice but not write them".

In order to ensure a major breakthrough, Russia has prepared a specific national strategy. There's a struggle for technological leadership in the world.

Vladimir Putin: "If someone can ensure a monopoly in the field of AI, the consequences are clear to all of us. He'll become the ruler of the world. It's not a coincidence that many developed countries have already adopted their action plans for the development of such technologies. Of course, we must ensure our technological sovereignty in the field of AI".

Russia has good starting conditions. The cost of network access is one of the lowest in the world. There's a strong scientific school. It's remained the leader in mathematics and physics for decades.

There are no teachers in this school; all of the tasks are given by computers. There's no schedule, everyone studies at his own pace. The main thing is that the bell never rings. The school is open 24/7. Moreover, one can study in this setting or this one, for example, which is a way more comfortable. The course lasts up to three and a half years. They plan that about 1,000 specialists will graduate per year. Moreover, students also check each other's tasks.

"You act as a student and a teacher simultaneously".

Svetlana Infimovskaya, principal of School 21: "Guys undergo a very difficult selection. After it, any desires to cheat, crib, and so on vanishes at the beginning".

The technology of the future has become a part of the present day. It seems that not in 20 years but earlier, there'll be nothing but AI everywhere.

Herman Gref, CEO of Sberbank: “We read books, news; we watch movies, videos. We manage money. Our phone is a tiny AI factory. Soon, there won't be any industries where some AI technologies aren't being used.”

There was a colossal breakthrough in Moscow. Frequencies to implement the breakthrough 5G technology have been allocated. Thanks to innovative solutions, the metropolis has already become a safer place.

Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow: "Front door cameras revealed dozens of criminals who were wanted. This year, we will soon announce a competition to create a large-scale video recognition system that will cover over 200,000 cameras".

AI can improve the efficiency of entire industries by 30-40%. The main thing is to develop domestic technologies.

Yury Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister: “The main task in the implementation of this strategy is the dynamic implementation of domestic solutions, I stress, for AI in every sector of the economy so that those products dominate the domestic market.”

Vladimir Putin: “I agree because the goals that we set for ourselves aren't very tangible at first glance, but we need to strive to that we can measure the result of our work.”

Many technologies of the future have already been created in Russia.

Sergey Chemezov, Rostec CEO: "There are self-driving cars created on the basis of KAMAZ. They're actively working, at least at KAMAZ. They already drive them at the plant. I hope that very soon they'll drive along public roads".

Technologies are also being introduced in medicine.

Kirill Dmitriev, RDIF CEO: “The introduction of smart systems in our cancer centers will reduce the number of medical errors by five to six times, for example.”

The development of breakthrough technologies largely depends on how actively large Russian companies will introduce them.

Alexander Dyukov, Gazprom Neft CEO: "We're ready to assume the role as one of the leaders in the development of AI for the industry".

Vladimir Putin: "That's great. But this isn't all of our companies. We have many more companies. It'll probably more difficult with them. I have a request to you: please, continue to work with them and tell me whom I should work with and on what issues, okay?"

The global goal is to become one of the leaders in the development of AI. At least 20% of large and medium-sized companies, as well as government bodies, should introduce it by 2030.

Vladimir Putin: "You know, we can not introduce it. We've lived until now, and it was okay. We need relevant decisions by the ministries and departments in order to introduce it. After all, we need to promote these products. Yes, it can be more expensive if we, let's say, make them do it. It can be more expensive in the first stage. But there'll be such a great breakthrough then that it'll justify all of the initial investments".

Plans for the development of AI will be a part of a separate federal project within the framework of the national project Digital Economy.
