A bit more than an hour is left until the event that excited the whole world of art: this evening in Spain, the body of the world-famous artist, Salvador Dali, will be exhumed. The grave will be opened according to the court's decision, which was addressed by a certain Maria Pilar Abel, who claims to be the daughter of the artist, and consequently, the heir.
The answer to the question if that's so, will be provided by the DNA test. Asya Emelyanova met with Maria Abel and visited the place where everything will occur today. The Figueres mayor's office begged: "Do not touch the grave of Dali during the tourist season." But the Madrid court decided that it was time to put an end to this scandalous story.
Exactly at 8 p.m. local time, a plate weighing 1.5 tons will be raised, and scientists of the National Institute of Toxicology will go into the crypt. This is the first time Salvador Dali will be disturbed, although the painter didn't even dream of peace, he himself asked to be buried in the museum, among his works and tourists. He, of course, understood that in Figueres to his grave there will be a line of 4,000 people a day. Dali's remains will not be taken from the museum, the genetic material will be taken directly there. With the utmost respect and by all the rules.
After all, it was already tried, the death mask with the skin particles was preserved, but the Dali Foundation has forbid the DNA analysis. We will try not to damage the body, it's embalmed, we will not let you take the bones and believe that you can take hair or a tooth as a sample.
At a press conference the night before the exhumation Mabel Pilar seems absolutely confident. Before the artist's death she did not go to court. Mom, she's still alive, asked not to bother Dali. According to Pilar, the parents met in the house of mutual acquaintances. Friendly feelings flared up. When the consequences of this "friendship" became obvious, the mother left the city and got married. Later the girl was born.
The first time Abel saw Salvador Dali was here, while walking with her grandmother on the boulevard in Figueres. The woman pointed at a strange man with a mustache sitting on a bench. "This is your real father," so says the family legend. In the family Abel was called strange from her childhood, "you're like your father." In her native Girona, the woman is well-known, she works as a fortune teller on local TV. But strangeness is not proof: everyone is concerned about the external similarity the nose, eyebrows, it seems that they are similarly wrinkling their forehead and raising their eyebrows. Or did she practice this in front of a mirror? I asked my mother: Could Salvador Dali be my father? He's so scary. And she replied: He had charm. And yes, he is your father.
The Spaniards can understand the desire to know the truth. But the woman, of course, is suspected in motives. Dali left everything in his will to the government, but he didn't know anything about his daughter when he signed it. This means that Abel Pilar can count on the surname, copyright to the pictures, and a quarter of the inheritance.
